Nigerians’ interest in the whistleblower policy, according to Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget, and national planning, is “nosediving.

“This was said by Ahmed at a zonal conference on whistleblower policy in Nigeria for the south-west zone, which was held in Lagos on Thursday.

Shehu Shinkafi, permanent secretary (special responsibilities), Ministry of Finance, represented the minister at the ceremony.

She noted that the declining interest contrasted with the policy’s beginning, when Nigerians offered a plethora of information.

She stated that the policy’s information has resulted in the recovery of cash and non-monetary assets, as well as the cleaning up of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

As a result, Ahmed noted that the public’s interest in nosediving drove stakeholders to realize that there was apparent misunderstanding in the public’s thoughts on various problems.

She claimed that the majority of citizens were unaware of the policy’s existence or its main goals.

She also stated that the workings or practical modalities of the policy’s implementation were widely misunderstood.
