    COVID-19: NCDC Opens New Testing Laboratory In Abuja

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Wednesday announced a new COVID-19 testing laboratory has been added to the list of molecular laboratory network in the country to increase testing capacity for COVID-19.

    The NCDC made the announcement via its official twitter handle@NCDCgov.

    This brings the total number of laboratories in the country with the capacity to test for the virus to 30.

    The agency disclosed that the laboratory is located at the National Intelligence Agency, Abuja.

    NCDC tweeted, “We are pleased to announce the inclusion of an additional lab to the NCDC Molecular Laboratory Network: National Intelligence Agency, Abuja.

    “This brings the total number of the laboratory with the capacity to test for COVID-19 in Nigeria to 30.”

    The NCDC had inaugurated COVID-19 testing laboratories in Lagos State, Ogun State, Kaduna State, Borno State, Kano State, Plateau State.

    Others are in Oyo State, Osun State, Ebonyi State, Rivers State, Edo State, Imo State, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

    NCDC had on Tuesday said it has recorded 241 new cases of COVID-19 outbreak in the country, taking the total number of infections in Nigeria to 10,818.

    The NCDC on its official twitter handle said that as of June 2, 2020, 15 deaths were recorded in the country.
